Promoting Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights of Young People through Youth Participation
Project duration : 4 year (2005-2008)
Purpose: Capacity building on the rights based approach, acceptance of young people’ sexuality and participation of young people of staff of FPAB, members of 12 youth organizations, staff of FPAB SRH services.
Goal: Adolescents and young people are aware and empowered to make informed choice and decisions to improve the sexual reproductive health and rights.
Strategic direction
:: Strengthening partnerships between FPAB and other organizations / institutions / clubs / groups working with adolescents and young people;
:: Development of a sustainable peer education system/programme.
Objectives
:: To increase awareness, knowledge and skills on the rights based approach, acceptance of young people’s sexuality, and participation of young people with staff of FPAB, members of youth organizations and staff of FPAB SRH services.
:: To establish partnerships between FPAB and 12 youth organizations
:: To develop a monitoring and evaluation system for a sustainable peer education programme
:: To develop IEC activities through the peer educators and with the help of the 4 mentioned target groups
Key activities
:: Recruitment of 1 Project Coordinator, 4Youth Field coordinator & 48 Peer Educators
:: Formation of Project Management Committee at the national level, and at the 4 District level
:: Training of staff of FPAB, on RAP-rule, the use of the RAP-tool, on aspects of peer-education (monitoring, evaluation and partnerships)
:: Selection of youth organizations, develop criteria and establish partnerships
:: Training of members of youth organizations, on RAP-rule, the use of the RAP-tool, on different methods of transferring information, education and communication
:: Training of trainers of youth organizations, in order to ensure sustainability
:: Training of staff of FPAB SRH services, on the rap-rule, on YFS-services, on the self assessment tool (FPAB responsible staff should be involved)
:: Development of a monitoring and evaluation system for a sustainable peer education programme for FPAB and for youth organizations
:: Development of IEC activities for the 4 target groups by the trained peer-educators and with the help of members of the target group
:: Conduct 1 midterm and final evaluation
