::: Project- Safe Motherhood

Safe Motherhood project was initiated by FPAB from July 2005. The target beneficiaries are the hard core poor, poor, disadvantaged and underserved community, women of reproductive age (15-49 years), men, young people, community gatekeepers, community leaders in the six Upazilas of four districts. (Sylhet Sadar, Dharmapasha, Noakhali Sadar, Rangamati Sadar, Naniarchar and Kaptai).

*During 2008 after mid term evaluation SMP aims to increase their community activities to increase access quality sexual and reproductive health services including safe delivery services, to promote women’s right to safe motherhood services and to increase awareness and knowledge of the underserved and poor communities. To make people aware and knowledgeable SMP will increase number of SRHR sessions by participatory methods and by using audio-visual aids for youths and as well as mothers. In SRH session participation of same number of girls and boys will be ensured strictly.

*To promote and encourage peoples health seeking behavior the project will implement different types of community activities like street play, advocacy session, health education session and will provide more information for the community by leaflets, posters, rally, personal contacts by home visits etc.

*To increase access to quality sexual and reproductive health project will increase satellite clinic sessions, some necessary pathology will be provided at satellite clinics. Project will train RHPs again in this year to make them more efficient and informative. Training will also be provided for managers and all technical persons to ensure quality of care and good management. Sufficient and appropriate logistics will be supplied to branches. Ambulance and community transports will make more service available for the people.

*All these activities of the six SMP units will be monitored by regular supervision from the NHQ and proper record keeping and reporting by branches will be ensured.
