Inadequate access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Care is directly related to ill health, disability, and death. Poorest of the poor populations of the world are the main victims of reproductive ill health & burden. FPAB’s strategic goal is to provide greater access to services to most vulnerable and marginalized individuals through different programs, projects and services.
To achieve the goal FPAB has been working in 21 Branches & 11 Special Work Units located at 20 old districts and 11 newly created districts of Bangladesh through 21 comprehensive clinics, 10 Special Work Unit Clinics (Mini Clinics), 6 Safe Motherhood Clinics and through (211+702+67 = 980) non clinic based service delivery outlet (CBD) and a total of 2281 Reproductive Health Promoters including PSPs of SMP are working to provide SRH services to rural areas to serve the beneficiaries at project locations by providing information, education, counseling and services to all clinics and non-clinical service delivery outlets.
In the year 2008, FPAB will provide services to more than 400,000 beneficiaries over the year 2007.
Besides 71 FDC Organizers have been working for gender equality, women empowerment, reduction of discrimination and to end violence against women & to establish their rights to establish control over resources & decision making with regards to health and family life.
We are also concerned to prevent and control RTI/STI, HIV/AIDS, prevention of unsafe abortion, and to prevent unwanted pregnancy.Trained RHPs working at FPAB will provide services at the doorsteps to minimize the cost and time of beneficiaries which will eventually ensure continuity of service.
Men and boys are encouraged to receive information services. The trained counselors will give adequate time to clients to provide support to take their decisions as appropriate in all affairs of their life as well as SRHR issues. Service provision by ensuring quality is also a challenge of services of FPAB.
To make community people aware about SRHR Health education, group talk and counseling sessions from clinic and non-clinic outlets will be organized at regular intervals. Follow up of clients, screening of maternal morbidity, identification of high risk pregnant cases, screening of gender based violence cases and their referral to higher centers will be done by all service providers through all service delivery outlets.
To make services youth-friendly & client-friendly provision of youth corner, breast feeding corner and crèche facilities will be developed at all SDP’s to provide services with comfort, dignity & with full satisfaction of clients.
FPAB is constantly making efforts and taking initiative through a lot of programs & interventions for the betterment of key populations to enhance the quality of their life – ways towards achieving goal of strategic plan of FPAB from 2005-2009.
