
Five journalists achieved the FPAB journalist award 2008, a national wide annual award by Family Planning Association of Bangladesh (FPAB) for reports or features on population, reproductive health, family planning, mother and child health, safe maternity, violence against women, adolescents’ reproductive health and women empowerment.
Minister for Information and Cultural affairs Abul Kalam Azad handed over the award in a function on July 7 at Shaheed Maizuddin Auditorium in Dhaka. The program was presided over by Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Women and Children’s Affairs Ministry and president of FPAB Meher Afroz Chumki. Executive Editor of the daily `Sangbad’ Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul and Acting Director General of FPAB Dr. Zahiruddin Ahmed spoke on the occasion.
Awarded Journalists are Emran Hasan Shohel, The Daily Manobjamin; Raju Ahmed, the daily Ajker Jagoj; F Sahjahan, the daily Shatmatha, Bogra; Samsunnahar Binu, the daily Shathi, Patuakhali and Sifat Rahman Sanam, the daily Ichamati, Pabna.
